Legislators appoint one of own as attorney
BATAVIA — The Genesee County Legislature appointed a new county attorney Wednesday and swore in a new member — one of the few, if any, second-generation legislators — to represent the towns of Elba, Byron and Bergen for the remainder of the year.

White-Collar Crime Lawyer Nominated For U.S. Attorney In Northern California
BAY AREA, Calif. — President Obama has nominated Melinda Haag, a former federal prosecutor, to serve as the U.S. attorney for Northern California. Haag, 48, was named by Obama on Thursday. She must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
